Discover DIY Fall Hair Treatments From The Hairadise Harvest Bowl, infused with the spirit of the Hair Huna

Welcome to The Hairadise Harvest Bowl! It’s our lush lineup of DIY fall hair treatments crafted from nature’s most nourishing ingredients. Though the leaves may be changing while the air’s getting cooler, I’m sure your strands are probably feeling… bleh. Fall has a way of pulling moisture from the air, and hair, too. But here in Hairadise, we don’t just survive seasonal shifts. We ritualize them.

A Season of Shedding and Starting Fresh

Just like the trees, our hair naturally sheds more this time of year. But that’s not a crisis.

Technically, it’s more of a cleanse.

Fall is our season to awaken. And to let go of what’s no longer serving you, or those strands; and fortify what remains.

Our secret?

Working with the season. And not against it.

Fall ingredients, like pumpkin, apple cider vinegar, rice, and sage, are loaded with the vitamins and minerals your scalp craves after a summer full of sun, sand, and saltwater. Not to mention, I like to add a couple drops of essential oils that bring the autumn aroma from the outdoors, in.

The Hairadise Harvest Bowl: 5 DIY Fall Hair Treatments

Each of these diy fall hair treatments are rooted in simple ingredients, deep nourishment, and a touch of our signature Hair Huna energy + intention.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar + Sage Rinse

For scalp detox & major hair energy glow up

What you’ll need:

  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage (steeped and strained)

How to use:
After shampooing, pour this over your scalp and let it chill for a few minutes. Massage gently before rinsing.

Why it works:
ACV clears buildup, balances your scalp’s pH, and brings back natural shine. Sage helps calm shedding and stimulates growth. It’s basically a hair reset button in a mug.

2. Rice Water Rinse

Rice Water Rinse is an easy DIY fall hair treatment

If you want strong & smooth strands.

What you’ll need:

  • ½ cup rice (I use jasmine!)
  • 2 cups water

How to make:
Rinse your rice, then soak it in the water anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour. Then strain the water into a jar and let it sit covered at room temperature overnight to ferment slightly.

How to use:
After shampooing, pour the rice water slowly over your scalp and strands. Massage gently for 2–3 minutes, let sit for 5–10, then rinse with cool water.

Why it works:
Rice water is rich in amino acids and B vitamins that strengthen strands, reduce breakage, and enhance shine. It’s an ancient beauty ritual that originated from East Asian traditions that helps smooth the cuticle and support growth.

Hair Huna Tip: Add a few drops of rosemary (to stimulate growth) or lavender (to relax and soothe) essential oil to your rice water before applying for an extra scalp-energizing boost. FYI this is a protein hair treatment and can cause adverse effects when used with other protein products. Please check with your fave hairstylist first!

3. Beet & Cranberry Gloss Rinse

For shine & protection

What you’ll need:

  • 1 small beet, juiced or pureed
  • ½ cup cranberry juice (unsweetened)
  • 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel

How to use:
Pour it over clean hair, let it marinate for 10 minutes, then rinse.

Why it works:
Beets and cranberries are antioxidant powerhouses that give hair a natural glow and protect from environmental stress. It’s your fall hair filter — no app required.

4. Pumpkin Hair Mask

DIY pumpkin, coconut oil, and honey hair mask

For deep hydration and shine

What you’ll need:

  • ½ cup organic pumpkin purée
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey

How to use:
Blend into a smooth mixture and apply generously to clean, damp hair. Cover with a shower cap or warm towel, and let it soak in for 20–30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly, then follow with your favorite gentle shampoo or co-wash.

Why it works:
Pumpkin is rich in vitamin A and zinc — two nutrients that boost scalp health and encourage growth. Honey, a natural humectant, pulls in moisture, while coconut oil seals it in. The result? Soft, shiny hair that feels like it just took a tropical vacation.

*Hair Huna Tip: Add a drop of vanilla extract or cinnamon for a sensory boost that whispers fall.

5. Pumpkin Seed Oil Scalp Massage

For hair growth & grounding energy

What you’ll need:

  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin seed oil
  • 2 drops rosemary essential oil (optional)

How to use:
Warm slightly and massage into your scalp with circular motions. Take your time — this is therapy. Leave overnight or rinse out after an hour.

Why it works:
Pumpkin seed oil boosts circulation and strengthens follicles, while rosemary helps wake up stagnant strands to encourage growth. It’s a ritual for your roots and your nervous system.
